A Game of Clue. Part 2: Split Up
The storm had returned just as they were having their drinks in the Lounge.
"I think we should get started." sighed Mr. Green (Phil), putting down his glass of water.
"Okay..." sighed Col. Mustard (Malvin) as he put his monocle back onto his right eye and put out his cigar, "I propose we split up into two groups."
"Split up??" gasped Mr. Peacock (Sav), "You can't be serious!"
"He's right, y'know." said Mr. White (Rick), "That means that if one of us is the murderer, that means that whoever is partnered up with him could die too!"
"I say we stick together!" said Professor Plum (Viv), crossing his arms together in protest.
"Well, we can cover twice as much ground if we do go into teams." said Col. Mustard (Malvin), trying to calm everybody.
"How do you propose we team together? We can't possibly choose favorites." said Mr. Scarlett (Joe).
"Here's what we have to do..."
Col. Mustard (Malvin) grabbed a bunch of matches. He split them down into three sizes: Small, half and whole.
The two who got the small matches got to search the following three rooms: The kitchen, the ballroom and the conservatory.
The two who got the halved matches got to search the billard room, the lounge and the dining room.
The two who got the whole matches got to search the Hall, the Study, and the Library.
"Now we see who we will be partnered up with. Choose your fate." said Col. Mustard (Malvin) as he held the matches so they looked like they were even length.
Mr. Scarlett (Joe) stepped forward first and drew a half match and stood aside.
Mr. White (Rick) took a whole match.
Mr. Green (Phil) drew a half match, pairing up with Mr. Scarlett.
Mr. Peacock (Sav) drew a small match.
Professor Plum (Viv) drew a small match and went with Mr. Peacock.
Col. Mustard (Malvin) got the last one, a whole match, and stood infront of Mr. White.
"Just you and me, mate." he said, "Well, we better get going."
They started the search for the murder.
The storm from last night had knocked the power out completely and the electrician was a clear 40 miles away and wasn't due to arrive till tomorrow morning.
The lightning and thunder kept the house lit up but only for brief periods. The lights from their candlesticks illuminated their way through the dark hallways of Mensch Mansion.
Col. Mustard (Malvin) and Mr. White (Rick) left the room first and turned to the right where the Hall, Study and the Library were located.
Mr. Peacock (Sav) and Professor Plum (Viv) left the room next and turned to the left where the Kitchen, Ballroom and Conservatory were.
"Don't try anything stupid that will scare me!" whispered Mr. Peacock (Sav), taking possession of the candlestick.
"Hmph!" said Professor Plum (Viv), turning up a snooty nose.
Mr. Scarlett (Joe) and Mr. Green (Phil) stayed behind in the Lounge and began to have a look around, searching through the small book shelf to see if there was anything they could search for.
"Hmm..." said Mr. Scarlett (Joe), perousing a copy of "Lady Chatterly's Lover" and opening it up to a very good part.
Mr. Green (Phil) crossed his arm and stared at him, "Are you going to help me or are you going to stand there reading?"
"Hey, hey, give me a break." said Mr. Scarlett (Joe), putting the book down, "I've always been a big fan of that book. It got me through a lot of lonely nights."
"Yeah, sure. Now see if you can find any type of a clue, ok?"
"Alright, Alright."
Meanwhile, down the hall, Mr. Peacock (Sav) and Professor Plum (Viv) came to the entrance of the Conservatory and peeked in.
They could hear Mr. Mensch's pet parrot, Pirahna, saying "Hey, Jack Ass!" from nearby.
"Oooh!!" growled Mr. Peacock (Sav), "If I had a bloody gun, I'd shoot that bird and fry him up for dinner!"
"Engage in cheery fantasies later, Mr. Peacock." said Professor Plum (Viv) as he turned towards the opposite end of the room.
Then...
CCRRASSSHHH!!
The screeching of Mr. Mensch's two pet monkeys, Cliff and Bernie. This scared Professor Plum (Viv) so badly that he fell into a nearby wrought iron bench, clutching his heart.
"Hey!" said Mr. Peacock (Sav), "No time for a break! We have to solve a murder here."
Professor Plum (Viv) gave him a nasty look and stood up once more, holding the candlestick.
Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the house, Col. Mustard (Malvin) and Mr. White (Rick) finally opened the door to the Study.
Everything from their meeting was still there, including Mr. Mensch's final paperwork which they had read early that day.
"I don't think Mr. Mensch would be murdered in here." said Mr. White (Rick).
"What makes you think that, Mr. White?" asked Col. Mustard (Malvin).
"Well...when it comes to dragging a dead body, there would be drag marks."
"Good observation. So we should look for drag marks then?"
"Yeah. Two lines from Mr. Mensch's black shoes. You know how often they scuff."
"Rrrriiiiiigggggghhhhh-t." said Col. Mustard (Malvin), who left the room immediately.
"Where are you going??" Mr. White (Rick) panicked.
"I'm going to tell the others. I won't be more than 5 minutes. Search this room for now and then I will come back for you so we can go on searching."
Col. Mustard (Malvin) left the room, leaving a frightened Mr. White (Rick) to continue the search.
Mr. White (Rick) breathed a sigh, "Sure is spooky in here."
Then...another CRRASSSHHH!! of lightning and thunder illuminated the room and Mr. White (Rick) fell into a lounge chair, coming face to face with a painting of Mr. Mensch staring down at him.
"Ohh god!" he sighed, standing up again and turning towards the fireplace and the desk.
While he wasn't looking, the eyes in the painting suddenly began to blink and follow every move that Mr. White (Rick) was making.
Somebody was watching them.
HERE IS THE SECOND CLUE...
It has something to do with the name of Sav's girlfriend. And are often bound together by leather and/or cardboard.
